The Insurance Brokers Association of Hamilton (IBAH) is looking forward to Canada Day, however, with all the excitement that surrounds the long weekend, we would like to promote the awareness of distracted driving in Ontario.
IBAH Board of Directors would like to wish our beautiful country of Canada a very happy 150th birthday!!!
Distracted Driving Campaign
With this brings a highly anticipated July 1st long weekend and we want to promote awareness of distracted driving in Ontario. Distracted driving has surpassed impaired driving as the number one killer on the roads, and it is an issue that drivers need to take more seriously. The RCMP defines distracted driving as follows;
“Distracted driving is a form of impaired driving as a driver's judgment is compromised when they are not fully focused on the road. Distracted driving qualifies as talking on a cell phone, texting, reading (e.g., books, maps, and newspapers), using a GPS, watching videos or movies, eating/drinking, smoking, personal grooming, adjusting the radio/CD and playing extremely loud music. Even talking to passengers and driving while fatigued (mentally and/or physically) can be forms of distracted driving.”
The IBAH is promoting safe driving practices this week and wants to remind drivers that distracted driving is preventable!
